saying goodbye

August 4, my Nana went home to be with the Lord. I wasn't sure whether or not to post anything for this occasion. After all, this is loss for my family, and people don't really like to talk or hear about death. But the life my Nana led was so beautiful, and her intimate relationship with God was so apparent that it leaves no room to question where she is now. So, in part, her death brings a big celebration of a life well lived and an eternity that will be well spent.

Things that were difficult, but so meaningful were singing at her funeral, watching my dad preach his mother's funeral, and saying a final "goodbye" in spirit. How hard it was to say that final goodbye, to see her and not be able to ask for one more piece of wisdom, for one more story, for one more hug and kiss. But how beautiful to see her rest in perfect peace, knowing that she is forever in paradise.
